WHY GO
Explore the mill yard where Richard Arkwright's water-powered cotton spinning helped reshape industry, then linger over cafés, shops and canal walks.
Cromford Mills tells a world-changing story in a remarkably inviting setting. Walk the historic mill yard, browse independent shops and the free exhibition, or join a paid tour to understand how Richard Arkwright's water-powered cotton spinning transformed work and daily life. The site sits within the Derwent Valley Mills UNESCO World Heritage area, with the canal and Cromford village close by for a longer day out.

Approach
The stated arrival is Cromford Mills’ main gates on Mill Lane (DE4 3RQ), rather than the railway station. From the gates, allow approximately two minutes to enter the Mill Yard, where shops and the free exhibition are on site. Accessible parking spaces are just outside the main gates.
