WHY GO
Follow Bentley Brook past waterfalls, old mill ruins and water channels in a wooded valley shaped by centuries of industry.
Lumsdale Valley brings water and industrial history together in a wonderfully atmospheric walk. Bentley Brook tumbles through a steep wooded gorge past the remains of mills, ponds and leats that once channelled its power. The site is a Scheduled Monument cared for by the Arkwright Society, so the most rewarding way to explore is to stay on the permissive path, admire the fragile ruins from a safe distance and let the changing sound of the water guide you through the valley.
